Thanksgiving in the Woods

Thanksgiving this year was at my parents' place in East Texas, about 20 miles outside Grapeland to be exact. It was one of those holidays in which life-long memories were made. We did all the traditional Thanksgiving food events, football game watching, and catching up with family.

Here's a picture of my family in front of the fireplace at my parents' home. (Okay, so I didn't bring family picture clothes to the farm.) Storey and Graham are doing great. Graham is finishing seminary at Truett Seminary, and will begin a full-time job with MarathonNorco Aerospace in January. (He's part-time now.)

Storey is a nanny for a family with two-year old twins and a one-year old. She has also started her Masters in Education at North Texas. They still have time to enjoy being married after four months. Storey graduated from Texas A&M and was most pleased with the results of the Texas vs. A&M game on Friday.

Summer is finishing up her first semester as a Junior at Baylor University. She did not cheer this semester, but stays busy with her studies in Special Education and with her soroity, Delta Delta, Delta.

She has a boyfriend named Joe, who goes to Hardin Simmons University. They are working through the long distance challenges of attending different colleges. They met while on staff at Pine Cove this summer. He's from Colorado, and she feels she really needs to see him during Christmas break. Why not.

Here she is playing with Maddie by the creek that runs through my parents' place. It was a perfect autumn weekend, and we spent more time outside than inside. It was wonderful.

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving, too. I'm ready for the run to Christmas.
