The Spiritual Daily Dozen

I am preparing again to summit Mt. Rainier . I gave it a go in 2011 but turned back on the top of Disappointment Cleaver.  This year my plans are to summit on August 12, my 60th birthday . I'll keep you posted and share the results, but I wanted to share some of the training I am doing to prepare for the climb and how that relates to my life-long spiritual training. I am climbing again with the best guides on the mountain , RMI Expeditions . Four Reasons to Withdraw and Pray

Jesus modeled for us how to live an abundant life with God and others. Everything he did and said becomes a template for our lives if we desire to follow him. You and I can learn this abundant life even in short passages recorded in the Gospels. Luke , who tells us more about Jesus' prayer life than any other Gospel writer, noted that... ...Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. ( Luke 5:16 ; TNIV)  If Jesus withdrew from crowds and ministry regularly, surely there are advantages for us to follow his lead. Here are four reasons to withdraw in order to pray Solitude.
